Tracker – Need To Know – Review : Embedded Secrets

Russel is back. Well, maybe.
This has been my favourite episode of the season so far, and I think it’s purely because we went back to Colter being a little bit more serious and there being tension between the brothers that we haven’t seen in a while.
Russel’s return at least gave us a very small snippet of what he has been up to, and by that I mean we saw a dead body near him in the desert, which gives us absolutely nothing to go on, other than that he definitely hasn’t been surfing.
This whole episode was very team work-heavy, and I loved it. I do love seeing Colter work on his own; it is nice when we get to see him draw up plans with other people. Even if he does sometimes do whatever he wants to do regardless of advice not to.
Russel and Reenie’s relationship has always been funny to me. They care deeply about each other, but they also know that they will never be together, which is why watching them flirt is so fun. It’s even more fun when Colter gets involved, and you are just watching two brothers poke fun at each other with someone they both care an insane amount about.
Russel’s life has always been a mystery, and every so often we get a drop of a few details that make me have so many questions about his past. In the span of two minutes, we find out that Grant saved his life in Honduras and that he has disposed of eight bodies in a bathroom before.
Honestly, at this point, Russel could have a whole spin-off show purely about what he does when he isn’t in contact with Colter.
I am so glad that this episode ended with everyone being safe. There were multiple points where I thought that either the girls or Grant would die. I am pretty sure that everyone has been saved so far this season, and although that fills me with some comfort, I know that it means someone isn’t going to be saved soon, and that’s going to be hard to watch.
I do wonder how long Russell is really going to stick around this time, especially if he was still on assignment covering up Colter’s past. Colter already knows that he is keeping something from him, so I kind of want him to stay around for a little bit longer and disappear again to make it all the more annoying that he has gone dark again.
I don’t know if we as the audience or Colter will find out this season what happened to him, or just that something did happen when he was younger, but the suspense is so fun. I can’t wait to find out what happened or even just what Russell has been up to.
Tracker is so far 5 for 5 on amazing episodes, not that it’s a shocker. Bring on the next 17 episodes!
