Sexiest TV

Honestly, if you asked me after the first ten minutes of this episode whether I was enjoying it, it would have been a definitive no. However, after the episode, I feel like everything that happened was worth it. 

I truly could not have been less of a fan of the town making fun of Martin’s blood phobia, especially because it was so clearly such a tough thing for him to let out at the end of the last episode. Clearly, I felt exactly the same as Martin did and had the exact same realisation that he did when Louisa told him that the teasing actually meant that the town was saying he belongs there.  

The tension between many of the characters in this episode was amazing to watch. Aunt Sarah and Eden’s lunch together was hilarious. I don’t know if I would be a fan of Eden if I hadn’t seen Martin and Louisa’s connection last season, but I know I’m not a fan of her now, and seeing Sarah just casually mentioning the kiss between Martin and Louis had me punching the air.  

I really enjoyed watching the differences between Martin and Eden throughout the episode. Specifically, him taking down a coat hanger when he heard an intruder and her coming down with a full-on knife. I think the thing about Eden I dislike the most is that it seems like all of her feelings about Port Wenn are making Martin feel like he doesn’t fit in there, until he talks to someone that isn’t trying to convince him to leave and he realises that he does fit in.  

The dynamic between Martin, Louisa, and Mark this episode was so wonderful to watch. Compared to last season when there always seemed to be a bit of tension when the three of them were all together, it was lovely to see them all just be friends and for them to acknowledge that as well. I do wonder if it’s because Martin and Louisa currently aren’t together, it is a bit easier for them to all get along and oooohhh together.  

I’m so glad that we got Martin and Louisa being on their own, well for a little bit anyways. I really missed that in the first episode of this season; their chemistry is so palpable. One of the things that is so great about the two of them is that they can offer the other one a different perspective on a situation. Whereas Martin and Eden tend to see things in the same way, and I don’t think that is conducive to a good relationship for Martin.  

Both scenes with Louisa and Martin towards the end of this episode are so important to each of their developments. Louisa giving that perspective to Martin gave him the realisation that maybe he does actually belong in Port Wenn and that he is still learning who they all are. 

I was sitting on the edge of my seat watching Martin talk Louisa down from her panic; they were only focussed on each other, and it’s like the rest of the room disappeared. Every moment of that scene was awe-inspiring. No two other actors could have done that scene any better; Josh Charles and Abigail Spencer are so incredible opposite each other. And to make the scene even better, it was right in front of Eden.  

The last scene made me completely okay with what happened at the top of the episode. It was such a small moment, but it just made so much sense to Martin’s storyline, and how he completely listened to what Louisa said and ignored all of Eden’s comments was so perfect. The coffee cup saying “ Gotcha” on it was the icing on the cake. I couldn’t stop smiling through that whole sequence. 

I love that for a solid 40 minutes I get to sit back and relax, knowing I’m going to watch a funny and heartwarming show; that is the epitome of what Best Medicine is.
