Spoilers Below:
Let me start by saying that this episode majorly confused me, and I know it confused a lot of people, mainly due to the timeline but before I dive into the review, I’m going to attempt to make sense of it.
If we say that the six months prior timeframe was just a rough estimate instead of fully accurate then we can place all the events (other than the interviews) between the dates of 24th September 2024 and the middle of October 2024, which would be six months ago. Abigail was missing for 11 days, so from the 24th of September to the 5th of October. Sometime in this 11 days Chenford went to look for her in the abandoned hospital and ended up drugged.
Truly the only explanation for this taking place before Lucy told Tim about possibly forgiving him in time for him to help her study for the sergeants exam, is that the drug levels were so high in their system that neither of them had any recollection of what was discussed.
If I’m honest that’s all the timeline issues I can actually explain because I certainly cannot explain how Abigail went missing after speaking to Liam Glasser. Considering he was arrested in episode 8 which was definitely not 6 months ago. Episode 6 was Valentines day and episode 12 was the April falls episode, so that would span a 3 month period.
One last note on the timeline issue, I found it very funny that Documentary Alexi wanted to, and I quote “establish a timeline” when that’s exactly what the audience were trying to do throughout the episode.
If you ignore the timeline of this episode, then it was a high intense, fun episode.
I do wish that there was a full explanation as to why Abigail and Henry broke up as I really did like them together. Abigail hasn’t always been the most psychologically sound person and being trapped in a confined space certainly didn’t help with that. Although her friendship with Bob is one of my favourite parts of the episode. Bob obviously isn’t alive but Abigail’s depiction of him is truly hilarious.

Before I get to the nitty gritty parts of the episode. Miles not being in this documentary really left a huge hole in the episode. I’m truly so happy that Deric has been given series regular status for season 8, as his character truly fits so well into the show.
I’ve always been a fan of the documentary episodes; I love to have a small break between the incredibly high stakes episodes. The documentary episodes often bring a lot of hilarity, and this episode was no different. From Smitty having his police badge upside down whilst being interviewed, and the change between the paranormal believers to the non-believers. However I think one of the funniest scenes was the Time Lapse of Tim and Lucy being drugged. Lucy coming prepared with random questions, Tim telling his embarrassing childhood story, him getting distracted by a cobweb, and Tim helping Lucy take out her tied up hair was hilarious.
Personally I wasn’t a huge fan of Lucy and Tim finally discussing things properly just because they were drugged. Although I am glad that Lucy knows the true reason why Tim broke up with her, and that she actually heard it from his mouth rather than interpreting it psychologically. Also the fact that she has forgiven and admitted it to herself, drugged or not is such good progress.
I truly hope they bring up the conversation on next week’s episode whilst the pair are studying together for Lucy’s sergeants exam. I’m hoping since Documentary Alexi asked if what she said was true, that Tim will question it with Lucy himself, because based on his look, I’m not sure he believes it is true.

This episode truly cemented my hope that Liam Glasser will return in the future. He gives me similar vibes to Rosalind. No one can be as good as Annie was, but Seth Gabel takes a close second. His natural sinister appearance when he was being interviewed by Abigail gave me chills. The Rookie needs another multi-season villain who is in a completely different calibre to current villains such as Oscar and Monica.
All in all this episode may have been slightly (or very) confusing but it definitely had some great scenes that I loved.
A quick mention of next week’s promo, Seth Ridley is back! He better not screw anything up for Lucy and her exam, although I don’t think we will be seeing too much of Seth and his antics based on Promo and BTS footage.
Character of the week:
I honestly couldn’t pick a performer of the week as everyone’s execution was on point this week. So as a compromise I have chosen a character of the week. Angela Lopez! Angela inviting Abigail to film in her house was perfect, topped off with her in a director’s chair cheering once the scene was cut. It was everything. I also loved the return of Wopez and their love language of bickering. Angela mouthing “he’s scared” to the camera when talking about him staying in the hospital was hilarious.
What did you think of the episode, and what do you think about Seth returning, do you want him to have a redemption arc, or has he done enough?
