Suits LA – Bat Signal – Review : The Double Cross

Spoilers Below :
Let me start by saying that this episode was definitely my favourite episode of the season, I think this was mainly down to the focus of only two storylines, so I didn’t have to remember what was happening in multiple different aspects of the episode.
Flashing back to New York 2010 can sometimes be confusing when they don’t put that it is a flashback/have a continuous flashback so you have to guess based on the lighting used, that being said I am a big fan of the flashbacks.
The episode starting with the flashback to New York 2010, with Hardman being on the stand, being crossed by Ted was a great scene and a big win for OG Suits watchers who despise Hardman. I would class that as a very Harvey Specter move, this episode definitely showed the little quirks that Ted had picked up from Harvey.
It massively shocked me when Pellegrini requested to bring new evidence to light, with Harvey walking in, I knew that it was over for Ted. Harvey would never intentionally perjure himself in this situation. The situation caused Pellegrini to be given 25 with parole at 15 instead of life.
The flip back to the present day with Harvey dressed in a suit and Ted questioning how he was able to be like that after drinking the same amount the night prior was a very funny scene. I loved Harvey’s response of “winners don’t greet the day in sweatpants”, as much as I didn’t overly like the comment about Donna, I did like the confirmation that Darvey are still thriving. I am definitely a big fan of the Harvey/Kevin/Ted trio, I felt for Ted in this episode having to speak to the man who murdered his brother in order to send Pellegrini down for good.

Ted set up Pellegrini by taking photos of him and Santoro, sending them to him to lure him into a conversation. Which worked, landing Ted in a tight spot where he had to convince Pellegrini that it wasn’t a set up. He even went as far to offer Pellegrini putting a bullet in his head just so that Ted could get him put back in prison. Kevin also took pictures of Ted and Pellegrini to send to Santoro to lure him into the idea that Pellegrini was turning on him.
The confrontation between Ted, Harvey and Santoro was definitely an interesting one, I saw the car being blown up from a mile away, but what I did not see coming was that Kevin was the one who set off the car bomb and not Pellegrini. Harvey admitting that the ideas in this episode were his truly did not shock me, this felt like a very nostalgic episode and the one episode this season that I would akin to the original show. I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation between Harvey and Ted about the former’s son. Though we do not know Harvey’s son’s name, it was definitely a sweet moment to see him briefly talk about him. I also liked the small tribute that they had for Billy Miller who played Harvey’s brother in the original show.
The show fully acknowledging that Ted had been hallucinating his brother since he died was such a sweet moment. I had my suspicions since the start of the season, but it was nice to see it be fully acknowledged, and that it was only when Ted had got justice for him.
I really liked the Stuart storyline this episode, you could really see the humility in his personality and feeling blame for the death of a witness. He was doing everything he could to clear Bowie’s name, however I feel the majority of it was so that he could clear his own conscious of the murder.

Stuart taking it so hard leads to one of my favourite moments, he asks Rick to help him get footage of Bowie breaking into one of Erica’s client’s house, but the bit I loved the most was Erica coming to Stuart and demanding something back from him in return for the video. We don’t learn until the end of the episode that it was her Mother’s sculpture. Stuart really suffered during this episode, and it didn’t end either when he was notified that Bowie had been arrested. I hope we get to see the continuation of the storyline in the next episode.
What did you think of this episode, and did you know that Ted’s brother was a hallucination?
