Tracker – Original Parts – Review : New Beginnings For All

This episode of Tracker had some bits that I can safely say have never been shown before, and I loved it. The joy I get from watching Colter be such a different person since the weight of what happened to his dad has left his shoulders.
I loved Colter before, but I like this version more, mainly because it’s nice to see him just be happy. I am going to choose to ignore that eventually Colter will find out what Russell has been hiding.
It was really nice to see Colter away from his usual territory and finding parts for his dad’s old car. I liked the way that it was implied that Colter has been coming to the shop to get parts for quite a while and has been making a good connection with the mystery woman. If I’m remembering correctly, we never even find out what her name is, but the two are definitely going on a date.
It’s so interesting to watch this version of Colter that we haven’t seen before, at least not in this way. Billie obviously has been a part of the show, but in terms of a person that Colter might actually date, we haven’t seen that. I am very excited to see where this goes for Colter, and even if it doesn’t go anywhere, then it is at least nice to know that he is now open to the idea of dating.
Before I get into the actual main storyline of this episode, I did laugh out loud when we got in the desert because eagle-eyed viewers of other procedurals will notice that it was filmed in the exact same location as many other desert episodes for LA based tv shows, namely The Rookie, 9-1-1, SWAT, NCIS, and NCIS Los Angeles – if you couldn’t already tell that the show is now based in LA, you can now.
The little fakeout at the start of this episode was really nice. I was convinced that Logan was going to be the one that was in danger after he was left outside on his own. I was truly shocked when Randy said that it was the wife that was missing. It hooked me in so much more than I already was because I was questioning how that even happened. It was great!
I do think that the ending was incredibly obvious. I don’t mind it because I enjoy watching the trope; however, I think it could have used one more twist in it for me not to be so adamant that it was the sheriff.

I think my favourite part of the episode was when Colter was on the hill and being shot at. When he went down and stayed there, I assumed that he was waiting for the sheriff to get closer, but then I saw the blood on Colter’s neck, and I was then waiting with bated breath, hoping that he was okay and wasn’t actually hit. It was such a cinematic scene.
We got an update on who Adam is, and even though Reenie didn’t give away much, he definitely hurt her in the past. I’m honestly not sure where the two of them are going to go from here because I really don’t get the feeling that Reenie would even be interested in being around him again; in fact, working at the same place as him seems like a huge inconvenience in itself.
I really like that we are getting drip-fed every few episodes different things about each of the characters, and we might not get another nugget until two episodes later, but it is always coming back around, and that keeps me so excited for each episode!
