Episode Summary
It’s been 12 hours since the shift began and things couldn’t be more hectic, dramatic and tense. The Pitt staff keeps focused on saving the lives of all the victims of the PittFest shooting. During this hour, we finally find out what happened to Jake and his girlfriend. Meanwhile, Mohan and Santos make some bold decisions on their own to save two patients, and Robby hits his breaking point.

Highlights
Even though the broader chaos continues, this week’s story zoomed in on some specific cases. Two of them really stood out as Mohan and Santos showed they’ll stop at nothing when lives are on the line—even if this means getting in trouble with their bosses.
Jake and Leah (his girlfriend) show up at the hospital in a truck. Jake’s got an injured leg that it’s not life-threatening. Leah, though, has been shot in the chest and is barely holding on. Robby goes all in to save her, so much so that he clashes with Dr. Abbott, who tells him to let her go because he’s wasting time and resources on a lost cause. Eventually, Robby faces the hard reality and steps back. Then, he breaks the news to his stepson, who kind of blames him for not being able to save her. This pushes Robby into an emotional meltdown, where he admits that no matter how many lives he saves or loses, he’ll never forget Leah’s death—just like he’ll never forget Dr. Adamson’s.

Despite all the tension keeping us on edge, the episode gave us some much-needed lighter moments. For example, Whitaker used an intraosseous infusion (meant for unconscious patients) on an awake, injured clown—it was both shocking and hilarious. Then there’s McKay, who had to take extreme measures to deactivate her ankle monitor when it went off at the worst moment. Sure, this is bound to get her into trouble, but it might finally lead us to why she even has it in the first place.
On a different note, is it just me getting the vibe that Javadi doesn’t actually want to be a doctor? Sometimes it feels like she’s doing it to please her mom. Some of her reactions in certain moments hint at that. Let’s see how her story unfolds.
The episode also touches on how the victims’ families are coping. Kiara and Lupe had the heartbreaking task of identifying bodies through photos and breaking the news to loved ones. Meanwhile, David shows up at the hospital looking for his mom, but things take a turn when he’s tackled by the police since he’s the main suspect in the shooting. And as for Collins, she’s nowhere to be found, but I’m betting she’ll show up again. At least, I hope she does cause her help is definitely needed.

Character of the Week
Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch: I know I’ve picked Robby as the MVP a lot, but let’s be honest, he earns it almost every time. This time was no exception. We’ve seen him stay composed in even the toughest situations, but Leah’s death broke him. It also brought back painful memories of losing Dr. Adamson during the pandemic, which clearly still weighs heavily on him.
Final thoughts
That last scene was so powerful with Robby reflecting on some of the day’s cases really gave us a fresh perspective on how much doctors go through in a single shift. We’ve seen it play out over months, but for them, it’s just one day. I also think Robby might be carrying some guilt over Leah’s death—not just because he couldn’t save her, but because her ticket to the festival was originally meant for him.
With only a couple of hours left in the season, I still have no clue how things will wrap up, but I can’t wait to find out.
